ABOUT US

Welcome to the Tom Lowe Atlanta -Fulton County Water Treatment Facility! Located in John’s Creek Georgia this facility is an award winning strategic partnership between Fulton County, City of Atlanta, managed by Veolia and Khafra Engineering.

 

The Tom Lowe Atlanta Fulton County Water Treatment Facility opened in 1991 to provide a needed source of drinking water in North Fulton County.  It now provides clean drinking water to over 300,000 commercial and residential customers in North Fulton County and the City of Atlanta.

In 2016 the facility was named after the late Fulton County Commissioner Tom Lowe, for his dedication and contribution to the Atlanta-Fulton County Water Resources Commission the entity that oversees the efficient utilization of the plant.

The Tom Lowe Atlanta-Fulton County Water Treatment Plant honors the commissioner who served  north Fulton County for 40 years. Lowe was instrumental in the negotiation of the water withdraw permit with the Environmental Protection  Division, acquisition of the land, and construction of the water treatment plant that now bears his name.


His commitment to the Atlanta Fulton County Water Resources Commission ( AFCWRC) helped to realize the vision of a regional water treatment facility to ensure adequate water supply for the growing population needs of North Fulton well into the future.

WATER RESOURCES COMMISSION

The City of Atlanta and Fulton County came together as a partnership established as the Atlanta-Fulton County Water Resources Commission to provide the needed services for both municipalities and contracted the partnership team of Veolia North America and Khafra Engineering to provide operational and management services for the facility. The Environmental Protection Agency also partnered with the Atlanta-Fulton County Water Resources Commission to oversee the initial start up and construction of the plant.

Veolia North America, the leading provider of environmental  solutions and Khafra Engineering, one of the nation's largest minority firms,  as a 50/50 joint partnership have successfully operated and managed the award-winning facility for 30 years.
